New York City

Iconic landmarks, endless neighborhoods, and energy like nowhere else

Few destinations need an introduction quite like New York City. Famous landmarks, world-class museums, Broadway theaters, incredible restaurants, distinctive neighborhoods, and one of the most recognizable skylines on the planet make NYC a place where you could visit again and again without experiencing everything.

Of course, Times Square, Central Park, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty are famous for a reason, but some of the best parts of visiting New York come from exploring beyond the checklist. Walk through different neighborhoods, try food from around the world, explore museums, catch a show, and simply spend some time experiencing the constant movement of the city around you.

New York can feel overwhelming because there is so much to see, but you don't need to experience everything in one trip. Pick a few priorities, group attractions by neighborhood when possible, and leave some room to explore. There's always going to be something left for the next visit — and that's part of what makes New York City so much fun to return to.

Getting There

New York City is served by three major airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in Queens, and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) across the Hudson River in New Jersey. Together they provide an enormous selection of domestic and international flights, making New York one of the easiest cities in the world to reach by air.

Train travel is another excellent option, particularly if you're arriving from elsewhere in the Northeast. Amtrak connects New York with Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and cities throughout the region, while commuter rail networks provide additional connections into the surrounding suburbs. Once you arrive, there's generally little reason to have a car. New York's subway, buses, trains, taxis, rideshares, and your own two feet can get you almost anywhere you'll want to go.
