💰 Prepare for the Prices

Yankee Stadium was one of the most expensive ballpark experiences of our season, from upper-level tickets to nearly $20 canned beers.

Our Visit to Yankee Stadium

Visiting Yankee Stadium feels like something every baseball fan should experience at least once. Regardless of whether you love the Yankees, hate the Yankees, or fall somewhere in between, the history of the franchise is impossible to ignore. Monument Park and the Yankees Museum are easily among the biggest highlights, and we highly recommend arriving early enough to explore both before settling into your seats.

There are also some wonderful touches connecting the modern stadium with Yankees history and New York itself. The recreation of the iconic white frieze around the upper deck pays homage to the original Yankee Stadium, while hearing the live organist perform classic show tunes and jazz standards during the game gives the experience a personality that feels perfectly suited to New York City.

That said, we have to admit that the stadium itself didn't quite live up to the hype for us. Once you look beyond the incredible history of the team, we found the modern ballpark surprisingly ordinary. It's clean and comfortable, but it doesn't have the same distinctive sense of place we've experienced at parks like Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Camden Yards, or Oracle Park.

Then there's the price. Upper-level seats near the top of the stadium were approaching $90 each during our visit, and concessions continued the trend once we got inside. Seeing canned beers priced at nearly $20 before tip made this one of the most expensive game-day experiences of our travels. If you're visiting as part of an NYC trip, we'd definitely recommend budgeting accordingly.

Ultimately, we'd still recommend Yankee Stadium to baseball fans because of everything the Yankees represent to the history of the sport. Come early, explore Monument Park and the Yankees Museum, take in the atmosphere, and experience a game in the Bronx. Just don't be surprised if it's the history surrounding the ballpark—rather than the ballpark itself—that ends up being the most memorable part of your visit.
