Our Experience - Federal Hall National Memorial
Federal Hall National Memorial is an easy historical stop while exploring Lower Manhattan. Surrounded by the skyscrapers and constant activity of the Financial District, the building's grand columns and classical architecture immediately stand out from much of what surrounds it.
The site is closely tied to the earliest years of the United States, most famously as the location where George Washington took the oath of office as the country's first president. Today, the National Park Service preserves that history and provides another opportunity to step briefly out of modern Manhattan and into the story of early America.
This isn't necessarily an attraction we'd plan an entire day around, but that's also not what it needs to be. If you're already exploring Wall Street and Lower Manhattan, Federal Hall is an interesting, free, and easy stopβespecially for history lovers or anyone working on that National Parks Passport collection.
