Our Experience - Secret Food Tours: NYC - Chinatown & Little Italy

Secret Food Tours NYC was everything we want from a great food tour. Yes, we ate an incredible amount of delicious food, but the experience went far beyond simply walking between restaurants and collecting samples. Our guide, Renee, was fantastic, using the history and stories of Chinatown and Little Italy to bring both neighborhoods to life as we explored them on foot.

And then there was the food. Our culinary adventure included handmade chive and pork fried dumplings from Tasty Dumpling, Dan Dan noodles from Mrs. Fish, and a pineapple pork bun from Mei Lai Wah as we explored Chinatown. Each stop introduced another flavor and another piece of the neighborhood's food culture, making the walking tour feel like a progression rather than simply a collection of unrelated tastings.

Crossing into Little Italy certainly didn't mean slowing down. We continued with fresh burrata pizza from Sofia's and arancini from Parm before somehow finding enough room for dessert: cannoli from Caffรจ Palermo and cheesecake from Eileen's. Needless to say, this is one tour where we'd recommend arriving hungry.

What really elevated the experience, though, was everything we learned between bites. Renee shared stories about the neighborhoods, their communities, and their history as we walked, giving us a much better understanding of the places we were exploring. That's what turned an excellent culinary experience into an excellent New York experience.

If you're a foodie visiting NYC, this is exactly the kind of tour we love recommending. You get to explore two iconic neighborhoods, discover restaurants and dishes you might otherwise walk right past, learn about the history around you, and eat exceptionally well along the way. For us, Secret Food Tours delivered on both sides of the equation: the culinary adventure was tantalizing, and the tour itself made Chinatown and Little Italy feel much more alive.
