Our Experience - Venice Must See Attractions Walking Tour
There are plenty of ways to walk around Venice and admire what you're seeing. This tour showed us just how much more interesting the city becomes when someone can explain the history behind it. Over approximately three hours, our guide Sneh led us on an incredible journey through Venice while connecting the landmarks around us with the people, events, and cultures that shaped the city.
Sneh was fantastic. After living in Venice for several years, he had clearly grown into the city and developed an incredible knowledge of its history and culture. But what really made the experience stand out was his personality. He was fun, outgoing, engaging, and able to take an enormous amount of history and turn it into a story that was genuinely entertaining to follow.
One of the most surprising things about the tour was where we didn't go: St. Mark's Square. Somehow, we spent three hours on a Venice "Must See Attractions" tour without visiting its most famous landmark — and never felt like anything was missing. Instead, Sneh took us through other parts of the city, across bridges and through squares, past historic landmarks, and even inside some buildings when access allowed. It was an entirely different way of exploring Venice and showed us just how much history exists beyond the places everyone immediately recognizes.
Sneh organized the history of Venice into four major chapters, which gave the entire tour a fantastic narrative structure and made centuries of history much easier to follow. We're not going to tell you what those four chapters are, though. You'll just have to take the tour and let Sneh tell that story himself!
Even after the tour officially ended, Sneh made sure everyone knew how to get where they needed to go next. In our case, he went even further and walked with us all the way to the meeting point for our next activity. It was another example of how welcoming and genuinely invested he was in making sure everyone had a great experience in Venice.
If you want to do more than simply see Venice's landmarks, we can't recommend this tour enough. Walking through the city while learning the history that shaped it completely changed the way we understood what we were seeing. Sneh turned three hours of Venetian history into one of the most fun, engaging, and memorable walking tours of our trip. It was beyond excellent.
