Our Experience - Moose Creek Ranch
Moose Creek Ranch gave us exactly the kind of stay we wanted while exploring the Jackson Hole and Grand Teton area: a peaceful mountain retreat where we could come back to our own private cabin at the end of the day. Located across the state line in Victor, Idaho, the ranch provides convenient access to the Tetons while offering a completely different atmosphere from staying in the middle of busy Jackson.
We stayed in one of the Rendezvous Cabins and absolutely loved having a cabin to ourselves. There's something especially nice about returning from a full day of exploring and having your own quiet space rather than another traditional hotel room. The ranch setting made the stay feel like part of the trip itself, while still giving us a comfortable home base for everything we wanted to do in the surrounding area.
Moose Creek Ranch is admittedly on the pricier side, but when we compared our options, it was substantially less expensive than many of the hotels we were finding in Jackson Hole. For us, that made staying on the Idaho side an excellent alternative. We got the unique experience of staying at a ranch in our own cabin while remaining close enough to enjoy Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park during the day.
The little extras at the ranch also made our mornings incredibly easy. An included continental breakfast, coffee, and snacks were available in the main lodge, which was perfect for grabbing something before heading out for another day of exploring. We also loved the s'mores kits and fire pits around the property. Sitting around the fire and making s'mores is a pretty great way to wind down after spending the day surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in the country.
The ranch offers additional activities, including horseback riding, although we didn't take advantage of them during our stay. Our focus was primarily on using Moose Creek Ranch as our base for exploring Jackson Hole and Grand Teton, so we can't personally speak to those experiences. Even without participating in the ranch activities, we thoroughly enjoyed the property and felt like staying there added something special to the trip.
If you're planning a trip to Jackson Hole or Grand Teton National Park and the price of accommodations in Jackson has you questioning your life choices, it's worth expanding your search across the state line into Idaho. Moose Creek Ranch gave us the mountain setting, private cabin experience, convenient location, and relaxing atmosphere we were looking for — and we'd happily stay there again.
